Chris,
As of today it appears this milestone can be closed as completed but without bringing on a grad student from the Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering.
We had 3 grad students express interest, one who withdrew after learning of the expected programming experience needed. Last Thursday we met individually with a masters and PhD student. While they looked promising on paper, neither had sufficient programming experience or familiarity with coding in the languages and protocols in use to contribute to even a circumscribed chunk of our GENI milestones.
No further students have contacted us in the past two weeks either. So we have "explored" this option in good faith but come up empty.
