Use the GENI Desktop and GEMINI to instrument, measure, and visualize your GENI experiment
This tutorial will take you through the steps of initializing and instrumentizing a GENI slice to enable basic passive measurement gathering. It will also show you how to configure and schedule active measurements in your slice and view your measurements in various ways.
This tutorial will utilize the following tools: GENI Desktop, GENI Portal, Flack,
Pre-Requisites
The following background will be helpful for this tutorial:
- A basic understanding of GENI concepts such as those covered in the An Introduction to GENI and Experimentation using GENI talk prior to this tutorial
Please Arrive With:
- Laptop
- A GENI Experimenter Portal account.
Results
Attendees will add instrumentation and gather their first measurements from a GENI experiment.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Use and understand the following terms:
- Passive Measurements
- Active Measurements
- Learn how to use the GENI Desktop to
- Initialize a slice and SSH into the nodes
- Instrumentize a slice
- Configure and view passive measurement graphs
- Configure and schedule active measurements
- View active measurement graphs
- Send measurement data to the GENI Storage and Archive Service
