Agenda / Details
This tutorial introduces the basic elements of the Recursive InterNetwork Architecture (RINA) http://csr.bu.edu/rina/ and describes how to setup RINA experiments on GENI nodes.
Pre-Requisites
- A basic understanding of GENI concepts such as those covered in the Introduction to GENI and Experimentation using GENI tutorial (http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GEC19Agenda/IntroToGENI).
- Comfortable with running your own experiments on GENI resources.
- Verify that you are able to log into the GENI Portal (https://portal.geni.net).
- A basic familiarity with using a UNIX command line.
- A laptop with Mac OS or Linux OS. For Windows users, install Cygwin, or a recent version of Virtual Box (https://www.virtualbox.org/) with an Ubuntu image.
- A basic understanding of the Recursive InterNetwork Architecture (RINA: http://csr.bu.edu/rina).
Tutorial materials
Instructions:
Instructions for enrollment experiment at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/exp1-enrollment.pdf
Instructions for flow allocation experiment at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/exp2-flow-alloc.pdf
Instructions for dynamic layer formation experiment at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/exp3-dif-formation.pdf
Instructions for routing experiment at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/exp4-routing.pdf
The files and scripts needed to run these experiments can be found at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/scripts/master.zip
The Rspec file, describing the GENI resources needed, is at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/scripts/RINATutorialRspec.xml.
There are two ways to use the Rspec:
Using the GENI Portal:
- Create your own slice using the GENI portal.
- Go to the slice and click on 'Add Resources'.
- Add 'RINATutorialRspec.xml' for 'Choose Resources' and select 'NYU InstaGENI' for 'Choose Aggregate'.
OR
Using Flack:
- Create your own slice using the GENI portal.
- Go to Flack for that slice.
- Click on 'Import' and enter 'RINATutorialRspec.xml' as input.
- Click submit.
Readings:
A two-page introduction to ProtoRINA at http://csr.bu.edu/rina/geni-tutorial/protorina-ccr-2014.pdf (under submission)
