#439 fixed GEC 8 Demo Request hdempsey@bbn.com bhay.ak@gmail.com
Description
  1. Brief demo description (A few sentences suitable for a GEC8 attendee information page)

We will demonstrate the current Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) functionality running against cluster nodes running on UA servers. This allows the state (e.g., network state, packet counts, running processes, memory usage, ...) of the virtual machines to be determined from the virtualization layer (i.e., without the need to install instrumentation tools on the virtual machine).

  1. List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch hardware prototype, monitor). (Just put in the number of connections needed if your demo description already lists the equipment)

3 computers, 1 network switch, 1 projector, 1 monitor.

  1. Number of wired network connections (include required bandwidth if significant)

3 wired network connections.

  1. Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant)

0 wireless network connections

  1. Projector (y/n) Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI) (Bring your own projectors if feasible)

1 Projector, and 1 monitor. I would prefer not to have to bring my own (i.e., to use equipment supplied by the demo site).

  1. Number of posters (poster boards are 20" x 30")

3 posters

  1. Number of static addresses needed (if any)

None

  1. Description of any special requests (e.g. VLANS to NLR or I2 backbone)

None

#820 fixed VMI-FED demo at GEC 12 Josh Smift bhay.ak@gmail.com
Description

This is a milestone for our VMI-FED project, but the new milestones are not available in the drop down list for this ticket (at least for our project)

1) Brief demo description (Write a few sentences suitable for a GEC12 attendee information page that explains the demo's purpose as well as its importance to GENI, and lists the participants. See http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GEC10DemoSummary for examples.)

We will demonstrate the use of the Alaska ORCA resources, which provide experimenters with access to low bandwith and/or high latency connections in Alaska.

2) List of equipment you're bringing that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, hardware prototype, monitor). Just put in the number of connections needed if your demo description already lists the equipment.

We will have two laptops, each of which will need a AC connection.

3) Number of wired network connections (Include required bandwidth if significant.)

2, but bandwidth required on these connections will not be significant.

4) Number of wireless network connections (All wireless access in demo area is shared.)

2

5) Number of static addresses (Default addressing is dynamic.)

0

6) Number of projectors (Please note number even if you are bringing your own, to ensure that we provide screen space for it.)

At least 1, but 2 if you have space for them.

7) Number of monitors (Specify VGA, DVI, or HDMI. Specify resolution only if your software has resolution restrictions. We cannot guarantee a particular monitor size, so bring your own if this is critical for your demo.)

0

8) Number of posters (Biggest poster boards are 30" x 40")

1

9) Description of any special requests (network connectivity needs other than commodity Internet, other projects you'd like to be located near, etc.)

None.
