Chaos, the new ORCA code will make this possible by creating a VM with a specified Vlan in this case Vlan-1750. Need to find out when the new code will be deployed and ready for testing.

This feature has been added and I believe test VMs are up. Should we close?

Sorry for the delay. Yes, this can be closed. We'll be able to revisit testing when the rack has a hybrid-mode switch. And, if we have trouble with reliability of the experimental-VM-based approach over time, we will revisit that.
But the IPs are in place and we have been successfully testing for awhile now, so i'll close this out. Thanks!
Making a ticket to track this task for acceptance tests purposes.
Tim will provide an IP address for the static testpoint to use.
We believe the plan is that an "always-on" VM will be provisioned via ORCA, and the expectation will be that this VM will be down during the biweekly ExoGENI maintenance/update period, but should be up (and the interface pingable) otherwise.
