Description (last modified by lnevers@bbn.com)

Demo Title: Enhancing network applications on VNode and GENI

One-sentence layman's description:

This demo shows enhanced video streaming application as well as a service development framework via a federation slice between VNode and GENI. Visit us to see how application and network providers can use this approach to enhance their applications.

Who should see this demo?

Attendees interested in application providers and network providers should see this demo. We'll show how to enhance applications by programmable network such as VNode and GENI.

Demo description paragraph(s):

In this demo, we show enhanced video streaming as well as a service develpment framework via a federation slice between VNode and GENI. In video streaming applications, we deploy multi-casting and transcoding functions dynamically into slice nodes according to the application demands. Users can receive high quality video in limited bandwidth. In the service deployment framework demo, we show a tool that automatically deploys and re-organize an application service spanning the federated slice according to a pre-defined deployment plan.

List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch, monitor):

2 (Laptop * 3): For Dynamic software function deployment demo.

Total number of wired network connections (sum standard IP and VLAN connections):

4 (Laptop *5)(Standard IP *2, Special VLAN *3): For Dynamic software function deployment demo.

Number of wired layer 2 VLANs (if any):

Three VLANs:

VLAN 1593, untagged, 100Mbps(VNode Y-plane from extended from Utah)

VLAN 1594, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

VLAN 1596, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant):

None

Number of static addresses needed (if any):

None

Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI):

One(VGA)

Number of posters (max size poster boards are 30" x 40"):

One

Special requests:

Please extend special VLANs from Utah: VLAN 1593, untagged, 100Mbps (VNode Y-plane from extended from Utah)

VLAN 1594, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

VLAN 1596, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

We will contact you about the more detailed VLAN configuration separately.

Thank you for the confirmation. But we would like to add one more poster. Namely, Number of posters (max size poster boards are 30" x 40"): Two.

We will appreciate you to accept our late request. Best Regards.

We are sorry but we'd like to change VLAN number for D-planes from 1594 / 1596 to 3523/3524 due to VLAN number conflict.

Followings are new demo description for VLAN part:

Number of wired layer 2 VLANs (if any):

Three VLANs:

VLAN 1593, untagged, 100Mbps(VNode Y-plane from extended from Utah)

VLAN 3523, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

VLAN 3524, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

Special requests: Please extend special VLANs from Utah:

VLAN 1593, untagged, 100Mbps (VNode Y-plane from extended from Utah)

VLAN 3523, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

VLAN 3524, untagged, 100Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

We will contact you about the more detailed VLAN configuration separately.
