7. WiMAX Client Platform Kit

7.1 Options

More and more WiMAX client platforms are being released. For example, the Clearwire website lists a wide range of devices that are currently available, and compatible with WiMAX networks.

WiMAX client platforms typically include devices, driver and management software and ongoing support arrangements.

Rutgers will procure as many WiMAX client platforms as possible, and integrate the most useful ones with the WiMAX Campus Deployment Kit. These will be "certified" for use with the GENI WiMAX campus deployment kit.

Rutgers will deliver a limited number of "certified" WiMAX client platforms to the campus deployment projects.

Issue: Which other campus projects could also evaluate and "certify" clients?

7.2 Plug-in WiMAX Client Devices for PCs and Tablets

7.2.1 USB Platforms

Several USB WiMAX client platforms have been introduced, and at relatively low prices.

The U210 from Accton Wireless Broadband Corp (Taiwan) is an attractive unit.

US210 USB Adapter
It is an IEEE 802.16e-2005 Wave 2 compliant device. Tests indicate that it performs well, and thus it has been "certifed" for use with the GENI WiMAX campus deployment kit.
