Setting up your Laptop running Mac OS X
1. Installing the Omni Experimenter Tool
- Download this file: omniTools.dmg.
- Double-click on
omniTools.dmg
to unpack it. This will result in a drive calledomniTools
to be mounted on your computer. You should see this drive on your Desktop. - Double-click on the
omniTools
drive to open it. - Drag the omniTools icon to the Applications icon.
- Open a terminal window.
- Run the script
/Applications/omniTools/addAliases.sh
. This script will add aliases for the various Omni tools in your~/.bash_profile
or~/.bash_login
or~/.profile
. (The script looks for these files in this order).
Test the installation:
- Open a new terminal window.
- In this terminal window, run the command:
omni --version
If omni prints out its version number, you are all set!
2. Make sure Flash works
- You will need Google Chrome or Firefox.
- Make sure you are able to load http://protogeni.net/flack
- If you do not have flash installed and you are using Firefox, install the Flash plugin for Firefox.
