OpenFlow/FOAM/AdminIntro
v18 v19 2 2 3 3 = FOAM admin intro = 4 5 NB. FOAM is no longer supported at GENI racks. In particular, we now use InstaGENI mechanisms to create an OpenFlow "VLAN" instance. This implies that OF resources are isolated per VLAN and each experimenter receives and exclusive OF VLAN instance. This simple model removes any possibility for subnet overlapping which existed with FOAM/FV model. Furthermore, mechanisms inherent in the GENI account approval process and the GENI monitoring interface provide the ability to determine the identity of experimenters who own GENI resources. These can be used to determine the source of security issues when GENI resources are misused intentionally or intentionally. 4 6 5 7 FOAM is an OpenFlow aggregate manager, which sites in GENI use to allow experimenters to allocate OpenFlow resources. This page is intended to be useful to any new FOAM administrator, but is specifically aimed at GENI rack site admins who may not necessarily know what FOAM is or what to expect it to do.
