The GENI OpenFlow-controlled network core is a Layer 2 network which can be used for non-IP experiments. OpenFlow allows an experimenter to reserve a sliver of non-IP traffic by specifying a non-IP ethernet type in the OpenFlow reservation. To avoid traffic conflicts, each experimental ethernet type can be used by only one experiment at a time.
Here is a reservation list for ethernet types, in the range of 0x2710 - 0x27D8.
The ethernet types aren't provided by an aggregate, and thus can't be reserved via the GENI AM API. To reserve one for your experiment, contact gpo-infra@geni.net
, and let us know when you'd like to start using the subnet (if not "immediately"), and when you expect to be done with it (if you're not sure, give us a date after which we should check back with you to see if you're done).
Please DO NOT use an Ethernet Type that you haven't reserved. Thanks!
