Scope
This project will analyze development and prototyping requirements in a federated international network. Specifically, the team will work with collaborators in Europe to determine how they can use existing international research and education infrastructure (e.g. DANTE, NORDUnet) to affiliate with GENI clusters, contribute resources and software, and run early GENI experiments. The team will coordinate with other funded GENI federation projects to keep the requirements results consistent with those projects.
Current Capabilities
Milestones
Due 9/30/2010
A final report that includes discussion of (1) how to best expand GpENI internationally, given that it does not have international optical connectivity; (2) how to use international research networks (including JANET, GEANT2, and NORDUnet) to run GpENI infrastructure, as well as what is feasible beyond tunneling; and (3) the possibility of getting optical (or virtual optical) connectivity into selected international GpENI node clusters with the assistance of Internet2, DANTE, GEANT2, JANET, and SWITCH. The work will be done coordinating and sharing information with the other GENI projects that are studying federation.
