UNIS

The Unified Network Information Service provides a directory-service interface to metadata about the network. Information most commonly managed by UNIS comprises the set of network services available, a summary of the (monitoring) data available at these services and topology-related information. UNIS is a merger of the Lookup Service (LS) and Topology Service (TopS) components of the perfSONAR framework. The functionalities provided by the LS and TopS are useful in many different contexts in networking (e.g. Dynamic Circuits, Network-aware Applications), and not just on their original domain-- that of multi-domain network performance monitoring. These components have thus been abstracted into a general purpose Information Service, called the Unified Network Information Service.
