wiki:InCommon/GpoLogin

Information on this page applies only to GENI account holders who access GENI through the GENI Project Office identity provider. If you log in through your home institution, nothing has changed for you.

Effective June 1, 2017, the GENI Project Office login to the GENI Portal is decommissioned and permanently offline. Experimenters can create a free login at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) that will allow access to the GENI Portal.

GENI Experimenters who had logins via the GENI Project Office were notified in March, 2017 that the GENI Project Office login system would be taken offline in June, 2017. Instructions for transitioning accounts from the GENI Project Office login to an NCSA account were provided at that time, and can be viewed below.

Account transition is a simple process that is only available for a limited time. If you have an existing login via the GENI Project Office identity provider, you should take the following steps as soon as possible.

Transitioning an account

The GPO run authentication service you use to log into GENI will go offline on June 1, 2017. You can continue to use GENI by getting a free account from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). Your NCSA account will give you access to GENI and other federated research systems.

Please use the following instructions to get an NCSA account and to transfer your existing GENI projects and slices to your new account:

  1. Get an NCSA account
    1. Register for an NCSA account
    2. You will receive an email asking you to confirm your email address
    3. Confirm your email address as instructed in the email. You account is now ready to use.
  2. Transfer your projects and slices to your new account
    1. Go to the GENI Portal and choose National Center for Supercomputing Applications as your organization
    2. Login using your new NCSA username and password
    3. Select Profile under your user name on the top right of the page
    4. Click on the button labeled "Transfer GENI Project Office account"
    5. Enter your GENI Project Office username and password*
    6. Click on "Transfer Account" and follow the dialog box prompts

After this transfer, you must use your NCSA account to log into GENI. Your GPO account will no longer work.

If you have any questions, please email help@geni.net.

Thank you!
