5 GENI Sites can be directly connected (or indirectly via a Regional network) to the following core networks: Internt2 Advanced Layer2 Service (AL2S) and Interoperable On-demand Network (ION).  AL2S provide scalable and flexible access to short or long-term Layer 2 circuits between endpoints on the I2 Network and beyond. GENI core networks AL2S and ION are run by [http://www.internet2.edu Internet2] a community of research, academia, industry and government technology contributors.  For detailed information about the AL2S and ION networks see the [http://www.internet2.edu/products-services/advanced-networking/ Internet2 Advanced Networking] page. Please note that the ION service is being phased out. For details on how they are connected to GENI Sites, please see the [wiki:ConnectivityHome GENI Connectivity] page.

19 Most GENI sites connected to AL2S support GENI Network Stitching. See the [wiki:GeniAggregate/I2AL2S AL2S GENI aggregate] page for a list of links that support stitching.

19Most GENI sites connected to AL2S support GENI Network Stitching. See the [wiki:GeniAggregate/I2AL2S AL2S GENI aggregate] page for a list of links that support stitching. The AL2S aggregate supports the GENI AM API which enables experimenters to request GENI Network Stitching connections via the [http://trac.gpolab.bbn.com/gcf/wiki/Omni Omni tools] or the [https://portal.geni.net/ GENI portal]. Experimenters do not interact with AL2S directly, the GENI tools determine the required connection and make the request to the [wiki:GeniAggregate/I2AL2S AL2S aggregate].

2323!OpenFlow experiments will soon be possible with the GENI Learning Switch controller or with an experimenter developed controller. Controllers are validated by Internet2 before being allowed to control I2 Core switches.
