GENI4YR Project Status Report

Period: 4Q08

I. Major accomplishments

A. Milestones achieved

The focus of this quarter has been to:

  1. Review GENI documents and hold discussion with undergraduate students;
  2. Attend and present at GENI Engineering Conference;
  3. Visit and hold discussions with our State Internet provider;
  4. Develop as new proposal for collaboration.

II. Description of work performed during last quarter

A. Activities and findings

The focus of this quarter has been on educate ourselves and the maximum possible of undergraduate students, particularly computer science majors, on what GENI is about and how it might be used in practice at a four-year institution in regards to the existing Internet. I attended and presented (oral and poster) our project and work in progress at the 3rd Geni Engineering Conference to Hewlett Packard Headquarters, San Jose, California, October 28-30, 2008.

I visited and held a discussion with our regional Internet provider, OneNet, Oklahoma's telecommunications and information network for education and government, for possible collaboration in the subject. As result of our discussions, we developed a new proposal to help establish a formal collaboration between OneNet and Langston University to work together on this GENI project.
