Description

This is a description of the Geni Experiment Engine Tutorial given at the US Ignite summit June 26, 2014

Brief Overview

The tutorial consisted of three hands-on tasks, after allocating a slicelet on the GEE Portal and downloading the slicelet tarball

  1. Hello, world. Participants wrote a one-line script that executed a cURL command. The command instructed an Lively Web page, which made notes on a map as to who had written in.
  1. Meet the messaging system. Participants used the built-in messaging system to exchange messages between a job server and job clients.
  1. Weather Processing. Participants downloaded weather reports to several locations, and at each location processed the reports, looking for severe weather. This is intended to show distributed computation using GEE.
