OpenFlow Aggregate Name
GPO Lab OpenFlow Aggregate
This aggregate supports the GENI Aggregate Provider Agreement (11/03/2010).
Aggregate Overview
Aggregate Manager URL | https://foam.gpolab.bbn.com:3626/foam/gapi/1 |
Aggregate Resources | The GPO Lab OpenFlow testbed consists of three OpenFlow-controlled switches (one each of HP, NEC, and Quanta) and a FOAM-managed FlowVisor controlling them. |
Typical Experiments | The GPO Lab OpenFlow testbed is suited for experiments that require flexible, programmable network configuration. |
Aggregate Status | Operational monitoring not widely available, restricted access to monitoring at GMOC |
Slice Authorities Recognized | GENI Project Office (http://pgeni.gpolab.bbn.com), ProtoGENI (http://www.emulab.net) |
Usage Policies | The GENI Recommended Use Policy is available. |
Layer 2 Connectivity | Internet2 and NLR |

GPO OpenFlow Aggregates
The GPO site has three OpenFlow Aggregates and a page is available for each ExoGENI FOAM, InstaGENI FOAM, and GPOLab FOAM. The GPO Lab FOAM is used to support OpenFlow experiments for both GPO ProtoGENI and MyPLC Aggregates, as well as providing NLR/I2 access for the ExoGENI and InstaGENI FOAM aggregates. Pages have been created to describes the potential OpenFlow connection details available from the GPOLab site:
- GPOLab InstaGENI FOAM
- GPOLab ExoGENI FOAM
- GPOLab ProtoGENI Resources via OpenFlow
- GPOLab MyPLC Resources via OpenFlow?
Each of the aggregates listed above access either NLR or Internet2 via the GPOLab site's OpenFlow Switch named Poblano, whose connections are captured below:
These local VLANs map to these inter-campus VLANs:
VLAN ID | Purpose |
1750 | Shared Meso-scale OpenFlow VLAN |
2650 | Single transport VLAN maps inter-campus to NLR |
3715 | Deprecated - Maps inter-campus VLAN ID 3715 to NLR |
3716 | Deprecated - Maps inter-campus VLAN ID 3716 to NLR |
3745 | Deprecated - Maps inter-campus VLAN ID 3715 to Internet2 |
3746 | Deprecated - Maps inter-campus VLAN ID 3716 to Internet2 |
3750 | Single transport VLAN maps inter-campus to Internet2 |
Note: The GPO site also has a WiMAX testbed with external VLANs, which is expected to support OpenFlow in the future, but is not currently available for experimenters. WiMAX VLANs include: VLAN 3733 (GPO to Rutgers) and VLAN 3735 (GPO to NYU)
