For newcomers to GENI the track includes a number of introductory talks and hands-on tutorials. Attendees with some experience with GENI will find the track includes tutorials on specialized GENI resources and tools. There is no restriction on who can attend any tutorial, however we make some recommendations for newcomers. '''Experimenters unfamiliar with GENI are strongly encouraged to attend the full day of tutorial sessions on Tuesday, July 26:''' * [wiki:GEC11IntroToGENI Introduction to GENI] provides an overview of core GENI concepts and terminology; * [wiki:GEC11SurveyOfAvailableResources Survey of Resources] describes the computing and networking resources, tools and support resources currently available to experimenters; * [wiki:GEC11GENIusingFlack Introduction to GENI using Flack] is a hands-on tutorial where attendees will set up, instrument and run a simple experiment using geographically distributed computers interconnected by VLANs; * [wiki:GEC11NetworkingExperiments Advanced Topics in Network Experiments] is a hands-on tutorial where experimenters will set up and run an distributed experiment using the GENI Layer 2 OpenFlow backbone. In addition, newcomers may also be interested in the [wiki:GEC11SfaceTutorial tutorial on how to use the Sface tool] to set up and run GENI experiments and the [wiki:GEC11ExperimenterFeedbackRoundtable Experimenter Roundtable] where current GENI experimenters will be giving developers feedback on what works well in GENI and the enhancements they'd like to see. Experimenters with some knowledge of GENI and newcomers who have participated in the introductory tutorials described above may be interested in the [wiki:GEC11NetServTutorial NetServ tutorial] where they will learn about a framework for deploying in-network services using Java modules; the [wiki:GEC11ExperimentControlGush tutorial on Gush], an advanced experiment control tool; and a [wiki:GEC11GpENITutorial tutorial on GpENI], programmable network testbed centered on a Midwest US regional optical network between The University of Kansas, Kansas State University, University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and University of Missouri – Kansas City. ''Each tutorial includes a detailed description linked to from the GENI agenda page with preparatory work and background reading. Attendees should come prepared to engage in hands-on use of GENI. Many tutorials require laptops with !VirtualBox software (http://www.virtualbox.org/); attendees should have this software installed before the tutorials.'' || '''Day''' || '''Time''' || '''Topic''' || '''Location''' || '''Leader''' || '''Links''' || || Tues || 9:00 - 10:30 am || '''Intro to GENI Talk''' || || Vic Thomas, ''GENI Project Office'' || [wiki:GEC11IntroToGENI more info] || || Tues || 10:30 - 11:00 am || Break || || || || || Tues || 11:00 - noon || '''Survey Of Resources''' || || Aaron Falk, ''GENI Project Office'' || [wiki:GEC11SurveyOfAvailableResources more info]|| || Tues || 12:00 - 1:00 pm || Lunch || || || || || Tues || 1:00 - 3:00 pm || '''Tutorial: Introduction to GENI using Flack and the Instrumentation Portal''' || || Rob Ricci, ''Univ.
