InstaGENI Racks Project

The InstaGENI Racks address the GENI Rack Requirements and follow the process below to deliver experimenter resources:

InstaGENI Design

An InstaGENI Design Document is available. HP also published detailed manufacturing documentation.

In response to the proposed design the following were discussed on the mail list instageni-design@geni.net:

  • InstaGENI Use Cases - Nine Use Cases were submitted for discussion in the design review, discussions are captured in this page.

Acceptance Tests

Although GENI Rack Requirements are the same for each of the GENI rack projects, a separate InstaGENI System Acceptance Test Plan is defined and is also based on the InstaGENI Use Cases.

See the InstaGENI Acceptance Test Status page for test status and issues as the InstaGENI Acceptance Tests are executed.

The InstaGENI Acceptance Test Report will be made available upon project completion, this page will capture all test findings, configurations used, unresolved issues, etc.

Rack Deployment

The GPO works with Campus Engineering and the InstaGENI Rack Team to set up and coordinate testing of the control, OpenFlow, and campus connections, as well as site monitoring. An outline of the Site Install Steps is available that is a baseline for the InstaGENI site installation.

The GPO also executed InstaGENI New Site Confirmation Tests to validate the introduction of each new InstaGENI site.

See the InstaGENI Confirmation Test Status page for overall status of new InstaGENI sites as they are deployed and validated for general use by Experimenters. Upon completion of the site confirmation tests, campus engineering will be able to access and fully manage resources for their own site.

The InstaGENI Aggregate Surveys is a historical page that captures the initial testing completed while the rack solution was first being implemented. Experiments included: a simple 2 node experiment, AM API Acceptance test results and the GPO Development Analysis of the results.
