Tutorial: Experiment Orchestration and Instrumentation using LabWiki

Agenda Details
Attendees will learn on how to use the LabWiki tool to plan, prepare, and execute experiments in GENI testbeds. Attendees will run a simple automation using LabWiki with resources they setup in the previous session. We will give an overview on the inner workings of LabWiki, OML/OMF, AMQP, and the GENI experiment service.
The tutorial is structured as follows:
- Explain GIMI inner workings (1/2 hour)
- describe images (tools, postboot script)
- OEDL
- LabWiki
- Experiment script
- Automation of Iperf (http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GENIFIRE/Labwiki/Part0/Introduction)
Prerequisites
- A GENI/FIRE account, if you don't have one sign up!
- Familiarity with how to reserve resources with any of the Tools (jFed, GENI Experimenter Portal, Omni, Flack). If you don't know you can take any of the tutorials:
- Reserving resources using jFed tutorial
- Familiarity with logging in to compute resources.
- Introduction to LabWiki tutorial
- Familiarity with Unix Command line - See "Tools" section

How to get Help
- Always ask your tutors (tutorial helper/presenter/TA) first. They are the fastest way to solve the problem.
