Test SSH with keys

In order to be familiar with how to use private SSH keys to get access to hosts we have setup a small test.

Please send email to tutorials@geni.net requesting a copy of the private key indicating which SSH client you are using. This private key is useful only for this test you will not need it for the hands-on tutorial.

To test your setup you will need this information:

  • username: sshtest
  • hostname: pc3.geni.uchicago.edu
  • port: 32826
  • passphrase for private key: v3rify

In the instructions below, use the private key you received through email.
Mac OS X/Linux/Cygwin : Follow these instructions. If you see the prompt sshtest@sshtestvm:~$ you are all set!
Windows : Follow these instructions. If you see the prompt sshtest@sshtestvm:~$ you are all set!
