Reserve a standalone node to run the Ansible client

  1. Reserve a single xen node at the aggregate you are using for your experiment. (The "1 Xen VM (IG)" RSpec in the GENI Portal.)
  2. Login to your node using ssh.
  3. Install Ansible on this node. Following the instructions for Ubuntu and repeated here for convenience.
    $ sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
    $ sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
    $ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ansible/ansible
    $ sudo apt-get update
    $ sudo apt-get install ansible

  4. Run ssh-keygen to generate a new key pair. When prompted save the key in a file ansiblekey.
  5. Start your ssh agent (enter your passphrase when prompted):
    $ ssh-agent bash
    $ ssh-add ~/ansiblekey

  6. Copy the public key onto your local machine (TBD).
  7. Upload the public key to your account on the GENI Portal via the Profile page.
