This session will focus on planning for GENI sustainment and GENI-related research activities in 2018 and beyond.

- Panel, Consortium-style models for GENI future activities
- Ilya Baldin, RENCI
- Joe Mambretti, Northeastern University
- Kuang-Ching Wang, Clemson University
- Rick McGeer, US Ignite
- Panelists will discuss case studies drawn from their personal experience building and working with consortium-based organizations supporting scientific research communities. Thought/discussion questions:
- What are desirable characteristics of a possible future GENI consortium?
- What strategies will best simultaneously address both sustainment and ongoing R&D?
- What are the benefits/drawbacks of drawing membership from academic v. industry institutions?
- Community discussion of GENI hardware refresh approach
- Discussion of consortium membership recruitment strategy
