Description
A hands on tutorial for getting up and running with the basics of VTS on GENI using geni-lib, as well as pointers and demos of advanced VTS functionality such as Network Function insertion.
Audience
Intermediate to Advanced.
GENI experimenters wishing to:
- build complex topologies or
- work with protocols (e.g. IPv6) that are not generally available in the test bed.
While VTS is not exclusive to SDN research, SDN experimenters will likely find additional value.
Pre-requisites / Pre-work
Working knowledge of available GENI resources and how to build basic experiments.
Install and configure geni-lib:
- Install
geni-lib 0.9-DEV
on your system: http://geni-lib.readthedocs.org/en/latest/intro/install.html- If you already have installed
geni-lib
you will need to update your clone withhg update -C 0.9-DEV
and run the installation procedure again.
- If you already have installed
- Set up your
geni-lib
context by importing data you can acquire from the GENI Portal: http://geni-lib.readthedocs.org/en/latest/tutorials/portalcontext.html
Note that you cannot use MacOS X Yosemite (10.10.x) with geni-lib. Use a virtual machine of your choice instead.
