= Call for Sessions =

For the upcoming GENI Engineering Conference 23 (GEC23), proposals are solicited for sessions and tutorials. 

 * '''Sessions''' can be presentation, discussion, or a community working meeting.
 * '''Tutorials''' should have an interactive, hands-on component but they can be a combination of presentation, interactive workshop, and hands-on training. 
    * In addition, we are looking for '''[#CallforTutorialHelpers volunteer helpers]''' for all tutorials from Mon-Wed (June 15-17) and a small number of instructors for the introductory sequence on Monday (June 15).

Session leaders, tutorial instructors, and helpers from US institutions who need assistance with travel costs will receive priority for Travel Grants.

== Submitting a Proposal for Sessions (including Tutorials) ==

Sessions can have a duration ranging from 1 to 4 hours. Please see [wiki:OtherMeetings agendas from previous GECs] for examples of past sessions. 

Preference will be given to session concerning or using GENI federated resources. They should cover topics of interest to the GENI community including but not limited to:
 * Sessions for experimenters, educators, operators, developers
 * Discussion of federation or use of GENI Federated Aggregates, including international testbeds
 * Development or use of experimenter tools
 * Tools for managing experiments (including standard software or system administration tools)
 * Experiment methodology or research in progress
 * Session or tutorials on networking, distributed systems, SDNs, cloud computing, SDX, 4G

 * Covering multiple topics is encouraged. 

=== Submission information ===
Proposals should contain the following information:
 * Title, Presenter(s) and a full list of instructors
 * Session Type: presentation, hands-on tutorial, or discussion/community working meeting
 * Abstract 
 * Intended audience: experimenter, developer, operations (or a combination)
 * Level: beginner, intermediate, advanced 
 * Duration - Detailed description and outline (1 page maximum)
 * Has this session been given before and if so how will this session be different.
 * In addition, hands-on tutorials MUST include:
   * Prerequisites
   * The [attachment:tutorials-form.rtf attached form] completed.

Proposals should be submitted in PDF format, should not exceed two (2) pages (not including the attached form), and be sent to gec-tutorials@googlegroups.com

= Call for Tutorial Helpers =

As at previous GECs, we will have a large number of hands-on tutorials.

We are seeking helpers to assist with tutorials as well as looking for one or two instructors to lead sections of the [http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GEC22Agenda/GettingStartedWithGENI Getting Started with GENI introductory tutorial sequence].  This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge about GENI with the wider community.  

Tutorial helpers and instructors from US institutions who need assistance with travel costs will receive priority for Travel Grants. 

Preference will be given to applicants who can support multiple tutorials. We will accommodate conflicts with other GEC sessions and demos. 

We are seeking: 
 * 1-2 instructors for the Getting Started sequence, and 
 * 3 helpers to assist on Mon-Wed (June 15-17) of the conference.

  1. Your contact information including:
	- Name
	- e-mail
	- School or Institution
        - Role (Professor, PhD/Masters/undergraduate student, Staff, etc)
	- Advisor (if applicable) 
  2. Have you attended GENI tutorials before (at GEC or anywhere else)?  If so, which ones.
  3. How have you used GENI outside a tutorial (e.g. classroom exercises, classroom projects, thesis/dissertation, instructor/TA of a class, developer, admin/operations)?
  4. Any additional comments (e.g. special areas of expertise)?
  5. Are you interested in leading a section of the [http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GEC22Agenda/GettingStartedWithGENI Getting Started with GENI] tutorials on Monday, June 15?
