Module C Design and Setup

1. Obtain resources

This experiment is an extension of the experiment described in Module A We use this experiment to demonstrate how an existing project can be easily scaled up.

For this experiment we will need:

  • 6 VMs (NodesA-F) with images that come with pre-installed GIMI tools. For more details on what is installed on these images go here (Type A)
  • 2 VMs (Switch1 and Switch2) with images that come with pre-installed GIMI tools and OVS. (Type B)

The Type A nodes represent regular end systems while the Type B nodes are used as a software-based OpenFlow (OVS) switch. The resulting slice topology for this experiment is shown in the screenshot below.

You can use any reservation tool you want to reserve this topology:

Look at the Prerequisites for Tutorials about reserving resources.

1.1 Login to Nodes sender and Receiver

1.1.1 Find your Aggregate

Click on your Slice name in the GENI Portal and scroll to the aggregate where you reserved your resources.

Click on "Details" next to it. You will see a page as below.

Use the Login information obtained here to login to your nodes using any SSH client and your private key obtained from 'Profile -> SSH Keys' from the GENI Portal. For more information, go to How To Login

Next: Run Experiment
