Attendees will be introduced to key GENI concepts, will run simple experiments on GENI and learn the basics of debugging their GENI experiments. By the end of this session participants should feel comfortable running their own experiments on GENI. Part I: Develop a basic understanding of the experiment workflow by doing a simple experiment. Understand the role of the data and control interfaces on each compute node. Part II: Understand how resources are described and reserved in GENI. Learn how to customize those resources using standard mechanisms. Use multiple tools to act on a slice and reserve resources. Familiarity with the material presented in this session will be assumed in other tutorials at GEC. == Registration Information == Maximum number of attendees: 40 per room Maximum number of hands-on (individuals or groups): 30 per room == Instructions == Responsible for instructions:BR GENI Tutorials are in this format Review date: March 7 BR Ready for a dry run Print due date: March 12BR In you need GPO to print the instructions, if you are providing your own copies just indicate so Linked to tutorial page: Part I instr BR Part II instr == Resources == === What ExoGENI resources are needed? === 2 VMs on same rack for each attendee === What InstaGENI resources are needed? === 2 VMs on same rack for each attendee === What WiMAX resources are needed? === None === When will slices be created and by whom? === Slice name pattern: `lab0ZZ`/`lab1ZZ` (where ZZ is their initials) === When will resources be reserved and by whom? === Attendees create their own slices. === When and how will slices be assigned to attendees? === Suggested slice name on worksheets. == Tools == === What tools are required for the tutorial? === Portal, Flack, omni, ability to ssh with a private key === What tools are recommended for the tutorial? === For ssh on Windows: BitVise, FireSSH === How will attendees access these tools? === [Installed on tutorial VM?
