Agenda Details
The purpose of this tutorial is to teach to show a more advanced OpenFlow setup, and how an experimenter can use GENI tools to monitor their experiment and to gather statistics. In this tutorial the attendees are going to build and Load balancer OpenFlow controller that will split the traffic between two paths, and use the GIMI tools to monitor the traffic on each path.
Pre-Requisites
This tutorial assumes that they attendees are familiar with:
- "Basic GENI concepts". It is assumed that the attendees have a basic understanding of GENI, the GENI Experimenter Portal, its resources and how to setup an experiment
- "Basic OpenFlow concepts". It is assumed that the attendees, already have an understanding of OpenFlow and its API
- "GIMI tools". Although not a requirement, it would be useful if attendees are familiar with the GIMI tools for instrumenting and measuring their experiment.
Before you come to the tutorial please make sure that you:
- GENI Tutorial VM. For this tutorial we are going to use the GENI tutorial VM. You are going to get an email about downloading a copy of the VM.
- Access to GENI. In this tutorial we are going to use GENI resources, you will receive an email about how to activate your access to the GENI Portal. Please follow the instructions before coming to the tutorial.
Please Arrive With:
Laptop with a recent version of Virtual Box.
