[[PageOutline]] = GIMI Tutorial at GEC15 = == Schedule == Thursday, October 25th [[BR]] 8:30am - 11:30am [[BR]] == Session Leaders == Mike Zink, UMass Amherst [[BR]] == Abstract == The [http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GIMI GIMI project] is developing an instrumentation and measurement framework, capable of supporting the needs of both GENI experimenters and GENI infrastructure operators. It uses the ORBIT Measurement Library (OML) and integrated Rule Oriented Data System (iRODS) as its basis and the Internet Remote Emulation Experiment Laboratory (IREEL). It will provide libraries to instrument resources, to filter and process measurement flows, and to consume measurement flows. It will use the iRODS data grid for archiving and further processing. [[BR]] This session will introduce the GIMI instrumentation and measurement (I&M) tools and show how to instrument an experiment that is executed on an ExoGENI slice. [[BR]] After successfully finishing the tutorial, attendees should be able to instrument their own ExoGENI-based experiments. [[BR]] == Preparation == 1. To prepare for the tutorial, each participant should install [https://www.virtualbox.org/ VirtualBox] and the GENI User Workspace image on their computer. Instruction for this step can be found here: [TBA] 2. This tutorial assumes that attendees have a basic knowledge of ORCA/ExoGENI, and it is recommended that you attend the [ExoGENI tutorial] given prior to the GIMI tutorial. 3. This tutorial also assumes that participants have a basic knowledge OMF/OML. 4. Besides OMF/OML and ExoGENI, this tutorial will also make use of [https://www.irods.org/ iRODS] and [http://ireel.npc.nicta.com.au/ IREEL] and the interested participant can find further information at the links given for both tools. 5. Account information for all tools will be handed out on paper to the participants at the beginning of the tutorial. == [http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GIMIv1.1Tutorial Instructions] ==
