     4
5The Topology Management Tool (!ToMaTo) is a topology-centric networking research platform. Using !ToMaTo researchers can manage and use virtual topologies consisting of devices (virtual machines, python programs) and networking components (VPN, physical networks). !ToMaTo offers an easy-to-use web-based frontend, link emulation on virtual links and packet capturing to allow researchers to focus on their research.
6!ToMaTo has been developed in the context of the German-Lab research project and together with private Planet-Lab and Seattle it is used to run the German- Lab facility consisting of about 200 nodes. The !ToMaTo software is not tied to the German-Lab facility and can easily be installed on other facilities like GENI.
7In this tutorial, participants will learn the basics of !ToMaTo usage, including building and using simple topologies as well as some of the advanced features of !ToMaTo like link emulation and packet capturing.
