Tutorial: Experimenter Workflow and Example Topologies
Schedule
Tuesday, 10:00am - noon
Session Leaders
Niky Riga and Sarah Edwards, GENI Project Office
Agenda / Details
The purpose of this tutorial is to discuss in detail the life-cycle of a GENI experiment, and provide hands-on experience about how to design and conduct experiments that span multiple aggregates. For this tutorial we are going to use the GENI multi-campus, layer 2 backbone network and discuss how you can choose different topologies. We are going to use both a graphical tool (Flack) and a command line tool (Omni) for reserving resources.
The tutorial instructions can be found here.
Prerequisites
A basic understanding of GENI concepts (will be covered in the Intro To GENI tutorial). Although not a requirement, it is recommended that attendees are already familiar with PlanetLab, ProtoGENI and OpenFlow aggregates.
Please Arrive With:
Laptop with a recent version of Virtual Box. If you are unable to bring one, you may partner with someone else.
Results
After completing this tutorial, you will have a working GENI slice that will include resources from different aggregates and you will know how to design and deploy a multi-aggregate experiment in GENI.
Although your account is temporary, it is a real GENI account that you can use to run experiments in GENI until it's deactivated. If you would like to get a permanent account, please contact us at help@geni.net.
