     4This project will develop, deploy, execute, and analyze a series of data sharing architectures for P2P systems, MANETs, WSNs, and a federated solution across the heterogeneous networks in GENI.
     5In particular, it will investigate: (1) the performance of individual data sharing systems on GENI, (2) the challenges related to achieving pervasive data sharing across heterogeneous networks,
     6and 3) how the different networks can synergistically leverage each others' advantages. The proposed project creates a unified paradigm to study a variety of research areas.

     26  1. Realize the Cycloid (1) P2P structure on the PlanetLab, and measure the dynanism of the PlanetLab network on the performance of the Cycloid based data sharing application.
     27  2. Realize the LORD (locality-based distributed data sharing protocol)(2) on the Orbit platform and compare its performance on the real testbed with that from simulation.

     36== Experiment Results ==

     38The purpose of our experiment was to demonstrate the performances of three data sharing algorithms designed for three different kinds of networks, namely P2P networks, mobile ad hoc networks, and wireless sensor networks over GENI real testbeds.
     39We used the PlanetLab, Orbit and Kansei platform to simulate the three kinds of networks, respectively. For each scenario, we developed a simple data applications to mainly measure the efficiency of querying process in the corresponding algorithm.
     40Currently, we have obtained majority of results in PlanetLab and Orbit. In the Planetlab network, we measured the latency among different nodes first. We found the latency of links increases with the distance between the source and destination nodes when the latency is smaller than 350ms.
     41However, when the latency is more than 350ms, it is no longer dependent on distance. Links between Asia and other countries have the largest delay, mostly due to its long distance from other country.
     42In the test for LORD, we found the Adhoc quite unstable that interconeectivity among nodes cannot ensured througout the test. We then used the AP mode and imposed virtual mobility on wireless nodes to simulate the MANET environment.
     43We found the success rate is lower compared to the simulation result. We think it is because 1) sparsity of nodes (we only used around 30 -60 nodes) and 2) data transmission failure and packet drop caused by the algorithm in real environment.
