= FIRE = The Future Internet Research & Experimentation (FIRE) project is sponsored by the European Union under the ICT theme of EU Framework Programme 7. It has two related dimensions: Building a European Experimental Facility for Future Internet research, and supporting experimentally-driven advanced research, which defines the challenges for and takes advantage of the dynamically evolving facility. From the GENI perspective, FIRE combines both research and infrastructure projects. It is thus somewhat equivalent to a combination of the NSF's Network Science and Engineering efforts as well as the GENI project. * [http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ict/fire/ FIRE project page] [[br]] * [http://www.ict-fireworks.eu/ FIREworks page] == FIRE/GENI Workshops == The first FIRE/GENI workshop took place on December 8, 2008, in Madrid, Spain.
