= The Second GENI Research and Educational Experiment Summer Camp (GREE-SC 2013) = University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT BR Application deadline extended to April 30, 2013 due to conflict with GENI solicitation 4 deadline June 24-28, 2013 == Overview == The Global Environment for Network Innovation (GENI) infrastructure is becoming a mature virtual laboratory for exploring future Internet. It supports at-scale experimentation on shared and heterogeneous GENI resources among multiple users, permits users deep programmability throughout the network, and offers collaborative and exploratory environments for innovative research and education. More and more researchers, educators, and students have started or are starting to conduct research and educational experiments on the GENI infrastructure. NSF has sponsored a variety of GENI experiment projects since September 2010. Please refer to www.geni.net for more information. Following the successful first GENI Research and Educational Experiment summer camp (GREE-SC 2012) that took place at Rochester Institute Technology (RIT) in 2012, the second GREE summer camp will be held at the University of Connecticut in 2013. It will provide participants opportunities to learn and use the various resources and tools available in the GENI environment through tutorials, labs, and a team-based project. The program lasts for five days, culminating with final team presentations by the camp participants on the last day. Final presentations from the first summer camp can be found at http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GENIExperimenter/GENISummerCamp. Undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty at different-level colleges are welcome to apply. Industrial attendees are welcome too. The summer camp will focus on GENI wireless resources in addition to GENI Rack, Flack, Omni tools, OpenFlow, and Seattle. Attendees will gain hands-on lab experience with multiple GENI resources from GENI experts and use them to develop a team-based project in the summer camp. == Application == Please send the following information in a single pdf file to genisummercamp@gmail.com. BR (1) Your resume including your name, gender, country of citizenship, and if a student, current year in your degree path and when the degree is expected; (2) A short description (1-2 pages) on why you are interested in the summer camp, your expectations, area of interests for GENI experiments, and if applicable, your experience with GENI; (3) For student applicants, a support letter from your advisor to confirm the expected benefits to the applicant; and (4) An estimate of travel cost. Preference will be given to applicants who will continue to use GENI resources for research and education after the summer camp, and who will submit their results to The Third GENI Research and Educational Experiment Workshop (GREE2014) that will be held in March 2014. == Program Details == Duration: June 24-28, 2013 BR Location: University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269 BR Stipend: $200 BR Lodging: covered BR Travel: covered up to $400 BR == Application Deadline == April 30, 2013 (extended) BR == Schedule == GREE-SC2013 Agenda BR GREE-SC2013 Handout BR Link to [wiki:APRAGENI/GREE-SC2013/Prework Pre-work] == Keynote Speech == Confessions of a Serial(Wireless) Experimenter BR Ivan Seskar, !WinLab, Rutgers University BR Slides == Tutorials == GENI Overview BR Link to the [wiki:GENIExperimenter/Tutorials/GREESC13/PortalSimpleLayer2Example GENI Portal Tutorial]BR Link to the [wiki:GENIExperimenter/Tutorials/GENI_Desktop_and_GEMINI GENI Desktop and GEMINI Tutorial]BR Omni Tutorial BR Openflow Tutorial (I) BR WiMAX Tutorial BR Link to [wiki:GENIExperimenter/Tutorials/GREESC13/OpenFlowWiMAX Openflow Tutorial (II)]BR == Final Presentation == Team 1 Slides BR Team 2 Slides Team 2 Demo BR Team 3 Slides BR Team 4 Slides BR Team 5 Slides BR == Camp Location == Laurel Hall 305 (Monday-Wednesday, Friday), ITEB 119 (Thursday) at UConn BR Both buildings are close to Gampel Pavilion (the building with a round dome).
