XIA addresses the growing diversity of network use models, the need for trustworthy communication, and the growing set of stakeholders who coordinate their activities to provide Internet services. XIA addresses these needs by exploring the technical challenges in creating a single network that offers inherent support for communication between current communicating principals--including hosts, content, and services--while accommodating unknown future entities. For each type of principal, XIA defines a narrow waist that dictates the application programming interface (API) for communication and the network communication mechanisms. XIA provides intrinsic security in which the integrity and authenticity of communication is guaranteed. XIA enables flexible context-dependent mechanisms for establishing trust between the communicating principals, bridging the gap between human and intrinsically secure identifiers. This project includes user experiments to evaluate and refine the interface between the network and users, and studies that analyze the relationship between technical design decisions, and economic incentives and public policy. A prototype XIA router has already been implemented as a click module. In this demo we are using ProtoGENI infrastructure to test this prototype router. List of equipment you're bringing that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, hardware prototype, monitor). - 4 connections Number of wired network connections (Include required bandwidth if significant.) - 1 connection Number of wireless network connections (All wireless access in demo area is shared.) - 1 connection Number of static addresses (Default addressing is dynamic.) - 0 Number of projectors (Please note number even if you are bringing your own, to ensure that we provide screen space for it.) - 0 Number of monitors (Specify VGA, DVI, or HDMI. Specify resolution only if your software has resolution restrictions. We cannot guarantee a particular monitor size, so bring your own if this is critical for your demo.) - 1 Number of posters (Biggest poster boards are 30"" x 40"") - 1 Description of any special requests (network connectivity needs other than commodity Internet, other projects you'd like to be located near, etc.) ",closed,major,,GPO,SPIRAL4,fixed,GEC12,Mark Berman Suk-Bok Lee prs@cs.cmu.edu,
