We have been participating in defining a Cluster D plan for naming and stiching L2 connectivity across Clusters C and D. We have implemented a 10 Gbps path between iGENI facility at the StarLight facility and ProtoGENI. We are currently working on a connection to GpENI. Two weeks ago we had a meeting about this in Kansas City Mo. • Provide plan for configuration by iGENI staff of long-term (or scheduled) connections between current GENI backbone transport resources (e.g., Internet2 and NLR layer 2/Ethernet VLANs); current and planned GENI regional transport resources (e.g., BEN, CENIC, and others ); GENI aggregates; and/or other research networks (e.g. FIRE or JIST). We have previously noted our plans for configuring iGENI connections among current GENI backbone resources. The dynamic NLR resources are controlled by ORCA/Sherpa. Others are long term. The I2 connection will be made using DYNES (see the attached topology), which is the choice of I2 for this capability and which requires their forthcoming implementation plans. We are ready to proceed as soon as they are. We are using various techniques for dynamic and long-term international connections. • Provide plan for configuration and integration by iGENI staff of long-term (or scheduled) links between Cisco switch (equipped with features for VLAN tag mapping an L2 tunnel termination) and current GENI backbone transport resources (e.g., Internet2 and NLR layer 2/Ethernet VLANs); current and planned GENI regional transport resources (e.g., BEN, CENIC, and others); GENI aggregates; and/or other research networks (e.g. FIRE or JIST). We have been successfully testing methods using QinQ and vLAN translation. We have persistent links to multiple international sites, including Kaiserslautern, Taiwan, Brazil, and Korea. • Setup wiki (at Northwestern, or use GENI wiki) to report current status (requested, scheduled, active, disconnected..) of long term (or scheduled) connections by iGENI staff between GENI transport resources or aggregates, or between aggregates or transport resources and Cisco switch. We have been posting information and topologies on the GENI wiki this on an on-going bases • Operate the ORCA instance at Northwestern to control Cisco switch in real-time to provide L2 (VLAN) connections between GENI transport resources or aggregates, via L2 connections or tunnels We have been doing this on an on-going basis.
