Description

We will be needing a projector and a screen for each demo. Also, we plan to mount a poster for the OpenSAFE demo. Easel needed.

Brief Description of Demo.

Extensible and Scalable Network Monitoring Using OpenSAFE:

Monitoring is crucial for both networks and testbeds, monitoring enables operators to perform security checks and to troubleshoot network problems. To this end we developed OpenSAFE, a monitoring and network security platform, built using the OpenFlow framework that allows operators to better monitor their network infrastructure. Leveraging the power of OpenSAFE, operators of E-GENI infrastructure will be able to instrument powerful network security applications for E-GENI. In this demo, we present an overview of the OpenSAFE framework and ALARMS, the accompanying policy language. In our demo, we show the flexibility of OpenSAFE by implementing several different security policies in ALARMS.

UW-Madison's OpenFlow Deployment:

Extending E-GENI to enterprises and universities requires the deployment of devices capable of supporting the E-GENI requirements and the ability to allocate network slices on these devices. Over the last 3 months, we worked with 3 network operators to deploy 3 OpenFlow switches, switches capable of fulfilling the E-GENI requirements, in the wiring closes of the Computer Sciences building. Although still in the initial stages, this deployment is able to support the coexistence of multiple network slices through the use of the FlowVisor framework. In this demo, we display the ability of this deployment to support 2 network slices. Our first slice, the production slice, contains network traffic and is managed by an instance of SNAC, whereas the second slice, the research slice, is currently managed by a research controller running an experimental routing protocol.

If you would like to upload your demo slides/images/poster or any other relevant document then please go to http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GEC7Demos and attach your files. This would be helpful for our records as well as for people who could not attend the conference.

Once we have them, we plan to release a GEC7 Demo Summary document containing all the information about your demo.

Thanks, GPO
