Description
DTUNNEL project will need public IP addresses for GENI. GPO is pursuing. GPO will work with PI to determine timeframe and activities that need addresses, and number of addresses needed. There is no milestone associated with this ticket, because the Spiral 1 milestones currently defined did not require public IP addresses, but we believe the PI would like to add this to Spiral 1.
Other projects will also have needs for public IP addresses (ProtoGENI, SPP), which will be tracked in separate tickets, even though the addresses obtained by GPO may be used by multiple projects.

Also need a GENI AS to support DTUNNEL. GPO is working on both with ARIN.

This is no longer needed.
More specifics on DTUNNEL needs, from 2/11/09 meeting. For short term, plan to use prefixes from VINI. This will cover the testing stage with PSC. Ideally, would like to have a /24 prefix owned by GENI available at the same time frame as when the first ProtoGENI backbone nodes are installed (summer 2009). DTUNNEL is planning early testing in their lab with ProtoGENI (already on site) and VINI (expected soon) nodes, so that DTUNNEL will be ready to run BGP with the "outside" world as soon as ProtoGENI says the nodes are available. Of course this requires coordination with I2, ProtoGENI, and VINI as well.
GPO investigating availability of prefixes in this timeframe.
