Description

GMOC received comments on their Emergency Shutdown System Description document and made revisions to their approach. The document has not been revised. The most significant change was in response to comments from Steve Schwab about escalation to a small group of GENI volunteers, rather than solely the GPO. The GMOC is working with ProtoGENI to plan a dry run of the proposed emergency stop mechanisms and process for ProtoGENI node data connections.

GMOC will report on the prototype after this dry run.

Emergency stop has been proposed for discussion in OMIS at GEC7.

A dry run of the emergency procedures was run in collaboration with ProtoGENI. The dry run was successful and a slice created by GMOC to be shut-down was in effect terminated. The dry run was initiated at 11:34 AM (EDT) on tuesday March 22 and was finished at 12:26 pm when the slice was terminated.

The test included transmission of the emergency contact. The telephone verification procedure. including patching through the GRNOC helpdesk line, and termination of the slice by an aggregate.
