Description
One of the two GPEs in the SPP Chassis at the Salt Lake City Pop has failed. It will need to be replaced. There are two possible avenues to replacing it as we see it.
- We could send a replacement to I2 and have them replace it next time they have a scheduled trip to that Pop.
- We could bring a replacement (or ship it to Utah) to GEC6 and have someone there give us access to the I2 Pop. Of course, this is assuming that there is someone at GEC6 that would have time and access to the Pop.
We have a work around in place that allows us to operate the SPP node with just one GPE. There is no pressing need to replace the failed GPE before the GEC6 demonstration. In fact, we would probably prefer not to perturb things by replacing it before the demonstration.
This failure appears to be similar to the failure we had with the LC at Kansas City which has already been fixed. That failed LC board is now in the hands our the manufacturer for diagnosis and repair.

Chris:
I'm sorry this fell through the cracks in our system --- we don't really have a policy for time-sensitive ops tickets on the GENI wiki yet. I assume JD is planning to bring the board to GEC anyway, but wanted to give you what heads-up i could.
Thanks.
