  • Ticket #1448 – Description

    initial v6
    11    One-sentence layman's description:
    2
     2
3This demo illustrates how Virtual and Augmented Reality technology is advancing knowledge transfer capabilities within industry and education.
     4
35    Who should see this demo?
    4
     6
7 Attendees interested in accelerating knowledge transfer within their company. i.e. training, marketing, product development, safety, education.
    58    Demo description paragraph(s):
6     “Elevator speech” description that identifies (a) what you are demonstrating and (b) why it is important. This description may be used for advance publicity and to help attendees identify the demonstrations they wish to see.
    79
8     List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch, monitor):
10We believe that access to knowledge is a human right. We make Knowledge Transfer Available,  Accessible And Affordable for every human on the planet.
     11
12By using Virtual and Augmented Reality knowledge transfer solutions employees, students and trainees can learn up to 12 times faster than with conventional methods while learning in a controlled environment.
    913
10 4 computers + other equipment (unspecified number).  Provide 8 power connectors.
14Virtual and Augmented Reality technology enables all organizations to more effectively visually communicate, collaborate and accelerate knowledge transfer. By showing rather than telling, Virtual and Augmented Reality technology side steps language barriers and poor literacy. From vocational training, advanced maintenance training, healthcare, to energy and public safety, Virtual and Augmented Reality is able to provide the knowledge necessary for self sustainability and allow communities to thrive.
15EON Reality provides state-of-the-art 3D display technology for immersive and stereoscopic viewing to over 30 different platforms from mobile and portable tablet PCs and to curved-screen and immersive rooms consisting of multi-channel projection walls.
16We will show 4 examples of how Virtual and Augmented Reality is used:
     17
18EyeSim:  This ophthalmology application is the world's most advanced VR Model of the eye developed with world leading eye experts.  It is designed to teach medical students and professionals about eye health and diagnostic practices.  Students learn how the eye works, see how blood flows to the eye, and practice an eye exam all in Virtual Reality.
     19
20Worldskills - Plumbing:   By bringing Virtual Reality to plumbing training, learners are able to quickly see how an entire bathroom comes together. In this brief scenario, users are able to construct the plumbing system for a small bathroom, while being timed. Then, after the fixtures are positioned properly, the user has to tighten the fixtures and pressure up the system before the time expires.  Mixing education with an entertaining gaming component engages the student and ultimately raises learning outcomes.
     21
22Katara Project:  One square mile of a new development in Qatar.  The Katara model use more than 1.5 GB graphic card memory, and the total internal memory consumption when running the model is around 6 GB. A total of almost 5 million polygons are used in this model, which includes 720 MB textures.  Some of the new features in EON 8 are used to be able to run this model at more than 30 frames per second. The 64 bit support in EON 8 makes it possible to load this model. By using the new enhanced Level of Detail, between one and three million polygons are visible at a time to ensure high frame rate.
     23
24Diesel Engine Builder is a great training and maintenance example where you can have a virtual hands-on experience. This demo allows trainees to work in an assembly procedure in Augmented Reality using just a Mobile device without any peripherals  Instead, a virtual laser pointer is used to Grab, Move, Rotate, Scale, and Modify.  Historically, AR / VR solutions have been cost prohibitive to many markets and applications. This example illustrates the power of the EON technology platform by removing costly barriers of entry and, as a result, have opened up additional markets and user applications.
