Description

Demo Title: Cloud Services Enhancements Through Application Specific Routing in MobilityFirst FIA

One-sentence layman's description: This demo aims to showcase how the name based network virtualization techniques implemented on top of the Future Internet Architecture MobilityFirst can enhance the performance of replicated cloud services.

Who should see this demo? Network and distributed systems researchers, service providers.

Demo description paragraph(s): Modern cloud services are usually geo-replicated across different geographic locations to service a geographically distributed user population. Given a geo-replicated service with replicas in different cloud locations, we exploit the characteristics of the name based Future Internet Architecture MobilityFirst to enhance the performance of these services and distribute the service load across different replicas. These enhancements are achived through the use of Application Specific Routing, a technique that uses network virtualization to apply application specific requirements to the routing logic. In this demo we will apply these concepts to a use case scenario using our prototype that run host and network resources on GENI (Rack nodes, I2 supported multi-site VLAN using AL2S, etc).
