Description

We updated VNode system to next version and we will show our recent progress of VNode system, especially focusing on applications working over VNode system. We are preparing four kinds of demos: one for video multicasting and transcoding in virtual network, second for congestion avoidance method using virtual networks, third for FLARE switch, and at last for federation between different virtualization platforms.

In GEC20, video transcoding will be executed on both VNode and ProtoGENI side and comparison result will be shown, new virtual-network application (congestion avoidance) will be demonstrated, high-end FLARE network virtualization node with many 10G ports and three-way federation based on the common-API/slice definitionV2.0 will be demonstrated.

Developers interested in international/heterogeneous virtual network should see this demonstration, because it will show real execution results of VNode-ProtoGENI federation.

  • List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch, monitor):

Just put in the number of connections needed if your demo description already lists equipment.

VNode demo: 2 (Laptop * 2)

FLARE demo: 2

Congestion-avoidance demo: 2 (Laptop * 2)

Federation demo: 2 (Laptop * 2)

Total : 8

  • Total number of wired network connections (sum standard IP and VLAN connections):

VNode demo: 5 (Laptop *5)(Standard IP *2, Special VLAN *3)

FLARE demo: 2(Router*1, AP*1)(Standard IP)

Congestion-avoidance demo: 2 (Laptop (standard IP) * 2)

Federation demo: 2 (Laptop (standard IP) * 2)

Total: 11

  • Number of wired layer 2 VLANs (if any): Specify VLAN number, if known, approximate bandwidth, and whether tagged or untagged

VNode demo: 3

VLAN 1593, untagged, 100Mbps(VNode Y-plane from extended from Utah)

VLAN 1594,1596 untagged, 200Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

  • Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant): None
  • Number of static addresses needed (if any): None
  • Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI): Specify resolution only if your software has resolution restrictions.

VNode demo: 1(VGA)

FLARE demo: 1(VGA)

Congestion-avoidance demo: 1(VGA)

Federation demo: 1(VGA)

Total: 4

  • Number of posters (max size poster boards are 30" x 40"): VNode demo: 1

FLARE demo: 1

Congestion-avoidance demo: 1

Federation demo: 1

Total: 4

  • Special requests:

Include any specific network connectivity needs (e.g. VLANs to a particular GENI location, projects you'd like to be near, etc.) It would be appreciated if you could allocate three tables. Please extend special VLANs from Utah:

VLAN 1593, untagged, 100Mbps(VNode Y-plane from extended from Utah)

VLAN 1594,1596 untagged, 200Mbps(Demo slice D-planes extended from a ProtoGENI node)

We will contact you about the more detailed VLAN configuration separately.

Thank you for your demo request. We will update this ticket when the resources have been confirmed.

The sooner you can get us the detailed VLAN info, the better. thanks!

Replying to peter.stickney@…:

Basically, VLAN configurations are similar to GEC19. http://groups.geni.net/geni/ticket/1175

(1) VNode Y-plane VNode Y-plane (VLAN 1593) is extended from Japan to Utah. Following is Japan-US VLAN translation used at GEC19 (We think we can use same VLAN translation).

KOTE(Japan) US Utah 1593 <=> 3139 <=> 1593

Please extend it from Utah to demo site. Bandwidth required is 100Mbps. Please provide it as untagged VLAN at demo site.

(2) VNode data planes We will allocate the federation demo slice between ProtoGENI and VNode (around middle of June). We'd like extend two data plane VLANs (1594 and 1596) from ProtoGENI Node Slivers allocated in the slice to GEC20 demo site. (We used one data-plane VLAN at GEC19, however, we need two VLANs this time.) Bandwidth required is 200Mbps. Please provide it as untagged VLAN at demo site.

Thank you for your help. If you require further information, please contact us at: vnode@nakao-lab.org
