Description

The GPO has completed site confirmation testing on the University of Utah Downtown Data Center rack, and the site administrator has agreed to open the site to experimenters.

The common short name for this rack will be utahddc-ig. The common name is used for the GENI portal, Clearinghouse, OMNI (in the GCF), and GPO-configured monitoring displays. It may be used by other tools for consistency if desired.

The GPO will update this ticket after when configurations are done and the site has been announced to the community on GENI mailing lists.

Is this only the compute aggregate? Are we adding the FOAM/OpenFlow aggregate as well?

Are we adding FOAM aggregates to the portal?

This would be the first FOAM aggregate in the portal, If we plan to add the UtahDDC FOAM aggregate, we should also add the FOAM aggregates for other deployed racks.

  • The sample omni config file in gcf (omni_config.sample) has been updated to include the Utah DDC rack. This will be distributed in the next release of gcf/omni.
  • The portal changes are ready but on hold until a scheduled tutorial is complete at 4:00 PM UTC (12:00 PM EDT).

We are not yet adding any FOAM aggregates to the portal. Portal support for FOAM aggregates needs to complete an internal GPO review and test cycle. We have been adding FOAM aggregates to OMNI for all production sites, and will also do that for this site.

The Utah DDC rack has been added to the portal. Both aggregates seem to talk to the portal just fine (ie. they trust the portal root certificate).

FOAM aggregates have received as much testing via the portal as compute aggregates. There are a few bugs in the portal with respect to FOAM, and the same holds for various compute aggregates as well.

Per request I have removed the Utah DDC FOAM aggregate from the GPO service registry. This delists it from the portal. It is trivial to add it back when I get the green light.
