#801 fixed A ShadowBox-based ProtoGENI Instrumentation and Measurement Infrastructure (ShadowNet) Josh Smift fei@netlab.uky.edu
Description

Demo participants: James Griffioen, Zongming Fei, Hussamuddin Nasir

Affiliation: University of Kentucky, Laboratory for Advanced Networking

We will demonstrate how to create a ProtoGENI experiment with Juniper logical routers.

We will also demonstrate how to collect and display measurement data from Juniper routers.

We will bring three laptops that need AC connections and wired/wireless network

connections.

We need one projector.

We will bring one poster.

#447 duplicate Aster*x demo resource request for GEC8 somebody Mark Berman
Description

Demo resource request for Aster*x. POC is Nikhil Handigol at Stanford: nikhilh@cs.stanford.edu

  1. Brief demo description

Title: Aster*x: Load-Balancing Web Traffic over Wide-Area Networks

Abstract: Effective load-balancing systems for services hosted in unstructured networks need to take into account both the congestion of the network and the load on the servers. In this demonstration, we illustrate a comprehensive load-balancing solution that works well for such networks. The system we showcase, called Aster*x, tries to minimize response time by controlling the load on the network and the servers using customized flow routing. The demonstration shows how Aster*x works over a combined network and computation slice spanning multiple campuses across the country. Besides the base behavior, we show the effect of dynamically adding and removing computing resources to the system, increasing the request arrival rate, altering the CPU or network load of each request, and changing load-balancing algorithms.

  1. List of equipment that will need AC connections: Laptop, Monitor (No. of AC connections: 2)
  1. Number of wired network connections : 1
  1. Number of wireless network connections : 0-1
  1. Projector (y/n) Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI) : One monitor with either a VGA or DVI interface.
  1. Number of posters (poster boards are 20" x 30") : 1
  1. Number of static addresses needed (if any) : None
  1. Description of any special requests (e.g. VLANS to NLR or I2 backbone) : None
