Milestone UMLPEN: Develop measurement and diagnostic tools

Develop measurement and diagnostic tools as elements of GIMS and user help tools within a specified GENI control framework. The measurement and diagnostic tools at this stage will be based on multi-core x86 processors.

Measurement tools on PEN use APIs provide by NFM library (vendor provided software with the network processor card) on the host. So far, it is not a discoverable resource through a clearing house (but it is our future plan to make it a discoverable resource.) A researcher can write C/C++ programs using the APIs to measure the stats (number of packets, bad packets, etc) of a flow identified by the interface ID/VLAN id/mac address/IP address.
