35 | Hi, |
---|
36 | |
---|
37 | Last friday we posted a document called |
---|
38 | |
---|
39 | "Preliminary Review of the GENIAPI as Control Framework |
---|
40 | Interoperability Architecture and TIED Federation Plug-In Candidate" |
---|
41 | |
---|
42 | to the GENI wiki at |
---|
43 | http://groups.geni.net/geni/attachment/wiki/TIED/TIED_GENIAPI_v1.2.pdf |
---|
44 | and linked from http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/TIED |
---|
45 | |
---|
46 | This is TIED milestone S2.d "Preliminary design document for |
---|
47 | Unified/SFA (GENIAPI) plugin" |
---|
48 | |
---|
49 | We're sorry that this is a little bit late (it was due August 1). |
---|
50 | Quite a lot of the analysis in this document is based on GENIAPI and |
---|
51 | SFA2 material that was first available at GEC8 and on conversations |
---|
52 | with several folks there and afterword. It took us a bit of time to |
---|
53 | synthesize all of that into one place.. |
---|
54 | |
---|
55 | We think this document raises some interesting issues about the |
---|
56 | current state of GENIAPI evolution, and points out at least one |
---|
57 | possible confusion that may exist across different people's views of |
---|
58 | that work and the SFA. Hopefully, it also describes some useful next |
---|
59 | steps to encourage interoperability. We're going to try to kick off |
---|
60 | some discussion of all this in the control framework WG in the near |
---|
61 | future. As a first step, we've sent a direct heads-up about the |
---|
62 | document to involved BBN folks - Aaron Helsinger, Tom Mitchell, and |
---|
63 | Aaron Falk - to solicit comments. We'll fire off a note to the WG |
---|
64 | list in the next couple of days. |
---|
65 | |
---|
66 | Cheers |
---|
67 | John |
