2828INSTOOLS is a system of Instrumentation Tools that gives users the ability to observe and understand the runtime behavior of their experiments. Leveraging existing monitoring capabilities, INSTOOLS creates a simple interface for the user ([wiki:SlicePortal Portal]) but also allows for a detailed drill down for more advanced purposes ([wiki:INSTOOLSInterface Live View]).

30The quickest way to start using INSTOOLS is to create a slice with [http://protogeni.net/flack.html FLACK]. Once the slice is created, press the "Instrumentize" button. When that is complete, press the "Go To Portal" button. This will take you to the INSTOOLS [wiki:SlicePortal Portal] page where you can visualize your slice's measurements.

32For more details, see the online [http://www.netlab.uky.edu/p/instools/node/28 GEC11 Tutorial] about FLACK and setting up INSTOOLS.
