This page describes How To install OVS in a ProtoGENI host. There are two different ways to use OVS within ProtoGENI.
- Use the
Image. This Image only works with , so if there are not nodes available you might
- Download OVS
wget http://openvswitch.org/releases/openvswitch-1.7.3.tar.gz tar xvfz openvswitch-1.7.3.tar.gz cd openvswitch-1.7.3
- Follow the instructions at
INSTALL.Linux
- Install the prerequisets:
sudo apt-get -y install pkg-config libssl-dev libc-dev
- Compile and install
./boot.sh ./configure make sudo make install
- Initialize the configuration database using ovsdb-tool
sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/etc/openvswitch sudo ovsdb-tool create /usr/local/etc/openvswitch/conf.db vswitchd/vswitch.ovsschema
- Install the prerequisets:
- Startup
sudo ovsdb-server --remote=punix:/usr/local/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock \ --remote=db:Open_vSwitch,manager_options \ --private-key=db:SSL,private_key \ --certificate=db:SSL,certificate \ --bootstrap-ca-cert=db:SSL,ca_cert \ --pidfile --detach
sudo ovs-vsctl --no-wait init sudo ovs-vswitchd --pidfile --detach
