Test Plan Steps

1.Power and wire the BBN rack

This step is not part of this evaluation. Rack was set up and running at the time of this evaluation.

2. Administrator configure GRAM using an administrator account

Administrator configures GRAM using an administrative account to configure the gramm.gpolab.bbn.com DNS namespace and 192.1.242.128/25 IP space, and enters all public IP addresses used by the rack into DNS.

This step is not part of this evaluation. Rack was set up and running at the time of this evaluation. Publically routable IP Addresses where allocated for experiments, and is verified in experimenter tests.

3. Administrator requests and receives administrator accounts

Administrator requests and receives administrator accounts on the rack and receive read access to all GRAM monitoring of the rack.

This step was partially executed when an administrative account was requested and used to successfully access each of the devices in the rack for administrative tests. There is some monitoring of the gram resources within the rack which is used in monitoring tests.

4. Administrator inventories the rack

Administrator inventories the physical rack contents, network connections and VLAN configuration, and power connectivity, using standard operational inventories. This step is not part of this evaluation. Rack was set up and running at the time of this evaluation.

5. Administrator, GRAM team, and GMOC share information

Administrator, GRAM team, and GMOC share information about contact information and change control procedures, and GRAM operators subscribe to GENI operations mailing lists and submit their contact information to GMOC.

Monitoring is still being developed and information is available only in local logs. ticket #96

This is the process running on the control node:

lnevers@bbn-cam-ctrl-1:~$ ps -eaf|grep gram-mon
lnevers 1406 30605 0 09:48 pts/17 00:00:00 grep --color=auto gram-mon
gram 19586 1 0 09:40 ? 00:00:00 su -s /bin/sh -c exec python /home/gram/gram/src/monitor/gram-mo.py gram
gram 19587 19586 0 09:40 ? 00:00:00 python /home/gram/gram/src/monitor/gram-mon.py

The gram-mon process generates local logs of monitoring data which are located at "/var/log/upstart/gram-mon.log". Following are samples of data in the monitoring log:

6. Administrator reviews the GRAM Documentation

Administrator reviews the documented parts list, power requirements, physical and logical network connectivity requirements, and site administrator community requirements, verifying that these documents should be sufficient for a new site to use when setting up a rack.
